Tea with Mom BAK and Handy Daddy

I have some beautiful kits to share with you today!

When I was growing up, and now even as an adult, I’ve always loved those special mother/daughter tea outings.  Today, my daughters also join my mom and I for tea.  It’s a time to practice your best manners and to feel like an elegant adult (which even I could use reminders in sometimes!) and of course there’s the delicious food served on beautiful plates that I would be afraid to use at home.  It’s amazing watching my two fun loving girls sit calmly and speak in quiet tones as they enjoy dainty pastries and cute little tea sandwiches.  I love the clink of china and the scent of lavender all around.  And did I mention the scones.  Mmmmm, my mouth is watering just thinking about them!

One of the things I remember doing as a kid is helping my dad do repairs on our house and at many of the houses he worked on.  In the summers, when my mom was at work and I didn’t have camp, I would travel with my dad to the places he was fixing up for people.  I loved to help hand him tools and nails and brushes as he completed his jobs.  In fact this was how I got my first kitten!  One of the houses we frequently worked at had kittens and the woman who lived there let me pick one out!  I named her Rose and she was the best kitten ever!

Teddy (pet dog kit) by Shel Belle Scraps

This month’s BAK at Stuff to Scrap is all about pets.  I got to work with a new kit by Shel Belle Scraps called Teddy (named after her dog).  This kit is full of fun elements and papers all about dogs.  You can grab an alpha set (which includes 2 full alphas), elements, and papers during this month’s BAK.

I had fun making a couple layouts with this kit to show you!

Friends Across the Miles by Shel Belle Scraps and B2N2 Scraps

Shel Belle and B2N2 Scraps have teamed up to bring you this beautiful collab called Friends Across the Miles.  I love the bright springy colors to this kit and the  fun and versatile elements.

Designer Darling Round 2 “Skate Girl” + Freebies

We’re on to round 2 of the Designer Darling Challenge at STS. This round we were all given a couple photos to use as inspiration. One of the photos showed the owner of STS who is on a roller derby team. I really wanted to go with the roller derby kit as I think this is such a cool sport. I loved the movie Whip It!  I tried to make my kit grungy and hard core.  Those derby girls are super tough!

I picked a grungy palate, and I really love the results.

STS Designer Darling “Spring Fling” plus freebie

I decided to participate in the Scraps N Pieces Designer Darling competition again this year.  I had such a great time last year and got to know so many great designers, so I’m excited to be a part of it again.

For this first week all the designers were given the same bright, springy color pallet.  We could each decide on our own themes as long as we used those colors and had the right amount of elements and papers.

My theme is Spring Fling.  I wanted to capture some of the feelings of a retro spring formal.  You can download my submission to the contest from the Scraps N Pieces forum.  I also have a freebie here on my blog and one on my Facebook page 🙂  So if you visit all three stops you’ll have a nice sized kit.  I had a hard time sticking to the required elements and papers!

Here are a couple  sample pages I made with this kit (also using some of the freebie pieces).  The first one is of my daughter’s recent Girl Scout adventure at a sock hop.  Both of my girls had such a wonderful time dancing around to fun music and batting around giant balloons.

This second layout is of my husband back when he was in his middle school marching band!

Northern Lights SNP blog train
